The Counting House is a new multiuse development situated in a magnificent riverside location in the heart of Cork City.

Situated within Brewery Quarter the mixed use development of over 150,000 sq feet will comprise of high quality retail, hospitality and cultural space and c.70,000 sq of Grade A offices over 5 floors. The building which is built to LEED standards is due for completion by November and is being developed by BAM Construction.

The carefully crafted regeneration project has retained many of the original features of the brewery which has been on this site since the 1600’s. Such features as Copper Mash tuns for brewing and the Mill Loft have been retained within the floor plates. The Tudor style frontage of the counting house has been retained with a large 7,000 sq ft plaza directly in front.

The development will incorporate riverside hospitality / retail units of up 400 to 6,500 sq. ft which will be serviced by a new street and bridge linking to crosses green which runs directly alongside the new 413 student accommodation scheme which was sold to GSA Global student accommodation.

The upper floors will be serviced by a feature double height reception area and comprise of 70,000 sq feet of brilliantly designed office space over 5 floors which when completed will accommodate over c.700 staff.  The offices will be built to the highest specification and fitted with the latest technology.  This space has been designed to make the most of Cork’s iconic cityscape with exceptional views to St Finbarr’s Cathedral and the Shandon Bells.

Covid 19 has forced companies to adapt their business model to facilitate staff working from home and while there have been discussions in some companies in extending this period, Brian Edwards firmly believes that need for physical office space will continue into the future. He says that high-quality amenity rich city centre offices that reflect a company’s ethos and brand will allow businesses to compete in the war for talent and retain staff.

Cearbhall Behan notes that Employees want more than just somewhere to work; they want a space to exchange ideas, focus on career development, form relationships, collaborate and innovate which is just not the same over voice/video conferencing.

The agents are quoting rents for the offices of €32.50 psf and retail/hospitality of €25.00 psf
